Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri is reportedly attracting interest from Inter Milan.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A title winners Inter are keen on signing the 26-year-old.
It is explained that the Italian club have already made contact with Emerson’s agent. Additionally, their incoming manager Simone Inzaghi likes the Blues player.
Emerson, who earns £75,000-a-week, has been at Stamford Bridge since 2018.
Unfortunately, he’s not been able to nail down a regular starting position in the Chelsea XI. But the 14-time capped Italy international is a skilful left-back who is a threat going forward, and is perhaps unlucky not to see more game time.
He played just 15 first-team games across all competitions this season.
It’s worth noting though that current Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for him earlier in the campaign.
He suggests that despite his lack of game time, he’s still an unbelievable player and that he helps a lot behind the scenes.
“After some days where he needed to settle to new information and a new style he is training with an unbelievable effort. He is one of the nicest guys you can imagine. He’s always friendly, has unbelievable qualities, Tuchel said in March.
Emerson leaving Chelsea makes sense for all parties
It sounds like Emerson is popular in the Chelsea dressing room, but this summer looks like the right time for him to go.
The left-footer can be a great option for another team elsewhere with more minutes.
Chelsea have England international Ben Chilwell as their left wing-back, and the signs are he could be the long-term option there for years to come. Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso is a strong understudy in that sytem.
