The Italian midfielder shone in his country’s Euro 2020-winning campaign and his price tag has now been reported following rumors linking him with a move to Chelsea.
It’s a big summer for Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel as the German coach looks to somehow improve on what was a tremendous end to the last campaign.
Now, the job for the former Paris Saint-Germain boss is the big task on his hands this summer to keep improving the talented squad, and plenty of names have already been linked with a move to west London.
All of the speculation surrounding Erling Haaland ‘s future continues to roll on, with the Blues reportedly chasing the Borussia Dortmund striker’s signature.
One player that was linked last summer, but not so much recently, is Federico Chiesa of Juventus.
The 23-year-old is currently on a two-year loan deal with the Turin-based club from Serie A rivals Fiorentina, with Massimiliano Allegri’s team having an obligation to buy the Italy international.
Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, Chiesa is valued at €80million (£68.3m) by Juventus, with his fantastic Euro 2020 campaign seeing his price rocket, which could prove as a blow for Chelsea.
Chiesa played seven times for Italy throughout the Euros, with the Azzurri clinching the title on Sunday evening with a dramatic penalty shootout victory against England at Wembley.
If the Blues were to pursue a deal for Cheiesa, though, then they could face some serious competition from German giants Bayern Munich.
New Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann explained to Bild, via Bavarian Football Works, recently that he’s a fan of the Juventus and Italy star.
“Yes, he is good, but also expensive,” Nagelsmann said about the reported Chelsea target.
“He is a fantastic player, because he personifies incredible panache and dynamism.”
He added: “I have known him for a long time and think he’s outstanding because he’s so carefree, often dribbling and looking for a degree very quickly.
“He simply embodies great power and even does things that will never actually work. He just does them, wants to put things in motion. He is very quick and a very good finisher.”
