With Tiago Pinto travelling from Rome to London to sit down and sort out a deal for Tammy Abraham, it’s clear AS Roma are very interested in the Chelsea player.
In fact, José Mourinho wants his former pupil back so much that the Serie A side would be willing to make him their most expensive purchase of all time, albeit spread over the next five years.
As Pinto is set to meet the player today, the newspaper explain that Abraham ‘isn’t enthusiastic about the idea of leaving London and the Premier League without the concrete hope of returning’.
That’s why this buy-back clause is expected to be placed in the deal, which would give Chelsea the right to bring him back to Stamford Bridge, but only ‘from 2024 onwards’.
The Blues ‘communicated to Abraham that they don’t want to sell him to Arsenal’, which could be huge in pushing him towards Roma.
However, he ‘still hasn’t decided and will dissolve his reservations today, on return from Belfast’.
So, if Abraham does go to Rome, he could return to Chelsea quite easily, but not until 2024.
